Book review

“AdhayAdhorayKhawab” is written by ShahidSiddiqui in 2009.It is a golden addition in Urdu literature. It is interesting for the people, who love to read fiction, love and who have esthetic sense. I think the book also discusses about the teaching methodologies and some comparisons between old and modern teaching techniques, so this book can be a reference novel for the teachers and educationists as well.
I think the novel has many dimensions of love; it has a person who loves nature; a student who loves his or her teacher, it also shows a father’s love to his child, and also tells us a child feelings and love towards his/her father. It also shows mother’s care about her child and realies us about the understanding between students. The writer shows the courage to negate the existing education system. He writes that every person should play his/ her role in every situation of the country, and writer tries to motivate that being a teacher he or she is supposed to play multidimensional roles in the society apart from the casual teaching and learning and should take an active part in civil society activities. The novel grips the whole hearted attention of the readers from the start to the end, as I stared to read the book and went through the end as I couldn’t discontinue reading for an another phase of reading
This novel describes about three main characters; professor Rai, Tasawor, and Imtsal. Professor Rai is a teacher in a Teacher’s Professional college (TCP). He is an evolutionary teacher and a role model for his students. He spends three years in that college and then transferred to the city college to his native town. But he is in the memories of his pupils. Tasawor is a student of Professor Rai and always referred him as his mentor. He is a former student and now a teacher in the TCP. Imtisal is a student in TCP and she needs help in some area and Tasawor told her that if Professor Rai where there he would have guided her better. An inner wish and attachment arises with in Imtisal and she wishes to meet Professor Rai someday. Accidently they meet and they have many meetings after first meeting.
Shahid Siddqui is an educationist and work as teacher in many well-known educational institutes of the country. He has many publications in Urdu and in English. It is not a traditional love story it advocates the ideology of purity of love. It also reflects the exact political scenario of Pakistan. The language of the novel is very simple and impressive.
